2nd Grade - Our vocabulary word for today was Skyscraper which is a relatively tall building of many stories, especially one for office or commercial use. The future thinker was Grover Cleveland, 22nd and 24th President of the United States, who developed a tumor in his jaw. Mr. Cleveland then had a dentist design a rubber jaw to replace the part of his jaw that had been removed because of the tumor. Very few people knew he had a rubber jaw until many years after his Presidency. Students worked together to solve the Plexer puzzles that were today's warm up activity. Handling stress was the focus of the affective lesson. In Crystal Pond Woods, students chose a common object, then SCAMPERED it to reinvent a new item. We then listened to Balloons Over Broadway the true story of Tony Sarg the puppeteer of Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade balloons.
