4th Grade - Today's vocabulary word, Idyllic, describes something that is pleasant and peaceful. Matthew Henson, who assisted Robert Peary in becoming the first humans to reach the North Pole, was today's ponderer. The affective lesson focused on friendship and why we have friends. Our Systems study had students exploring the metric system.
3rd Grade - Catamaran, a boat with two parallel hulls; a raft of logs tied together, was today's vocabulary word. The ponderer was Alexander Graham Bell who besides inventing the telephone also invented the comic book. Students completed a logic elimination puzzle for the warm-up activity. In Crystal Pond Woods, students were given a map and only four colors. The problem was that areas of the same color could not touch each other. Students learned about our government and how the laws and rules we have are necessary.

1st Grade - Nelly Bly, who wanted to go around the world in fewer days than the character in Jules Verne's book Around the world in 80 days, was today's ponderer. She was able to travel around the world in 72 days. Students worked on a Quotation Quizzler for the warm-up activity. In Crystal Pond Woods, students learned how to create more colorful sentences which makes for more interesting stories.

3rd Grade - Passive which means inactive; acted upon but not acting in return was today's vocabulary word. Oprah Winfrey who did not wow her bosses as a TV reporter was today's ponderer. These students also completed the Plexer puzzles for the warm-up activity. Max the Magician had these students fitting pentomino pieces into different shapes. We listened to the rest of Call It Courage and discussed the conclusion. The final activity was to check our experiment and determine if our hypothesis of the chili sauce cleaning pennies would work.

President William Henry Harrison angered Shawnee Chief Tecumseh so much that Tecumseh put a curse on the Presidency. All Presidents elected in a year ending in 0 died in office until President Reagan. A quotation puzzle was the warm-up activity. Anger was the focus of today's affective lesson. In Crystal Pond Woods, students were given more puzzles to decode with their animal friends.

4th Grade - Due to being out for snow and field trips, this class met today instead of Friday to make up some of their missed activities. Unflappable which means someone who has a lot of self-control and is not easily up set or frightened was today's vocabulary word. 4th Grade - Potent which means powerful and effective was the word of the day. The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. who led peaceful protests to equality for all Americans was today's ponderer. Students solved Plexer puzzles for the warm-up activity. Robot directions from another school were passed out to be built. Then students critiqued the instructions. The final activity was to begin looking at systems in Oklahoma.

5th Grade - Inception which means the start or beginning was today's vocabulary word. The ponderer was Milton Hershey who failed at several businesses before creating a caramel that developed into a successful company. These students quickly solved the Plexer warm-up puzzles. The affective lesson focused on rules we follow in all areas of our lives. They spent the afternoon creating a way to share their ExplorVision project with family and friends who come to visit next Thursday evening for Open House. We then tried to pick up a few activities that were missed last week because of the snow. Sojourn means a short stay , brief residence. Richard (Dick) Knerr and Arthur (Spuds) Melvin saved jobs by using an unwanted plastic to build hula hoops.

Students completed a logic elimination puzzle for the warm-up activity. Emotions were the focus of today's affective lesson. In Crystal Pond Woods, students listened to nursery rhymes then tried to put the nursery rhymes into figurative pictures.
