2nd Grade - We worked together as a class to solve the What In the World puzzle for the warm up activity. After hearing part of the story "Will I Have a Friend?"by Miriam Cohen, students researched friendship tokens from around the world.
3rd Grade - This class learned that a Predator is any organism that exists by preying upon other organisms. The investigator, Louis Pasteur and the Father of Microbiology, was not a good student in school. For the warm up activity, students had to identify 9 items from close up photos. In Crystal Pond Woods, students learned how to develop criteria as a method of selecting the best solution to a problem. The Relationships lesson had students understanding that members of a food chain are interdependent.
5th Grade - This class learned that Pernicious means dangerous, deadly. The investigator, Anton Leeuwenhoek, invented the microscope but never shared his idea with others. It took another hundred years before the first useful microscope was created. Preparing for the future was the focus of the affective lesson. The afternoon focused on environmental changes as a result of the Industrial Revolution. Students began designing a miniature golf course.
