3rd Grade - The weekly vocabulary word for this class was Nobleman which means a man who is a member of the nobility. Their explorer was Louis Pasteur who preferred drawing in school to his lessons. It was while he was in college that he developed his love for science. For the warm up activity, students had to draw a specific picture according to verbal directions. In Crystal Pond Woods students began working on Evaluative thinking by first developing good criteria by which to judge the best answer for a problem.
5th Grade - These student learned that Ruminate means to meditate, muse. Their warm up activity was a Stories with Holes problem that was a challenge to solve. Today's explorer was Andre Garnerin who designed the first parachute as a method of escaping from prison. Students then had an opportunity to design an escape proof prison. The affective lesson was a discussion that centered around the question, "Do two wrongs balance out and make an action right?" Our exploration lesson had students researching hunger in America. Students will look for specific information then create a product of their own choosing by which to share the information.
2nd Grade - We continued our lessons in Evaluative thinking in Crystal Pond Woods by developing good factual criteria by which to solve a problem.
