5th Grade - Today we learned that Trenchant means incisive, forceful. The explorer was George Crum who became angry at a customer for not liking the way he sliced potatoes. Mr. Crum sliced the potatoes paper thin, fried them to a crisp, then sent to them to the customer thus inventing potato chips. Students worked together to complete a logic elimination puzzle for the warm up activity. The affective lesson focused around the philosophy question, "I am lying. True or False?" Students then finished products regarding hunger in America and then started researching a topic of their own choosing.
2nd Grade - This class learned that Solitaire is a card game that is played by one person. Their explorer, Andrew Johnson (17th President of the United States) did not know how to write. Students worked together to solve a logic elimination puzzle for the warm up activity.
