3rd Grade: We began the day by learning about the word Discover which means to see, find, or become aware of (something) for the first time. The discoverer we studied was Hans Christian Anderson who never learned to spell but became a famous storyteller. As a class, the students created a code of conduct to follow while in Enrichment. We took our first trip to Crystal Pond Woods this year and reviewed the characteristics of convergent thinking by completing several puzzles. We will also be studying Discoveries. Today we took a pretest to share what we know about Discoveries at this time.
5th Grade: Today's vocabulary word was Admonish which means a mild cautionary rebuke or warning. The individual who made a difference that we studied today was Archimedes. Archimedes discovered water displacement when the king wanted to know if his crown was all gold (the students are to look him up to find out more about his discovery). Together the students created a code of conduct to follow while in Enrichment. Our theme this year is: The Power of One. We talked about different heroes. Each student then examined a time when they were a hero. Another topic we will be studying is Explorations. Today, students took a pretest to demonstrate what they currently know about the topic.
