1st Grade - There were two Presidents we explored today. They were Chester A. Arthur and Calvin Coolidge both of whom, according to the bibliography we read, didn't work very hard at being President. Students used detective thinking to figure out the Stories with Holes mystery that was the warm up activity. They were introduced to Isabel the Inventor who helped them see ordinary things in new and unusual ways.
2nd Grade - These students learned that Merchant means someone who buys and sells goods especially in large amounts. They learned that today's explorer, Harriet Tubman, never received pay for her years of service to the Union army during the Civil War. The Stories with Holes warm up activity was quickly solved by these great detective thinkers. Understanding our differences was the focus of the affective lesson. In Crystal Pond Woods, students finished writing about the SCAMPER creations. Students were also able to finish a book they created in Story Creator.
