1st Grade - Today students learned that Charlie Parkest voted in the California election of 1868. When he died people discovered he was really a woman. Technically that means she was the first woman to vote 50 years before women were even allowed to vote. Together we solved a logic elimination puzzle for the warm up activity. We then took a trip to Crystal Pond Woods where we had to use our creative thinking to build something that would help Sybil the Scientist get across the pond using only the parts from her lab.
2nd Grade - Students learned that the word Supply means to make (something) available to be used: to provide someone or something with (something that is needed or wanted). Today's explorer, Clara Barton, was shot through her sleeve while helping a wounded soldier at Antietam. The man died and Clara Barton never sewed up the sleeve as a reminder. We worked together to solve the logic elimination puzzle for the warm up activity. Courage was the focus of today's affective lesson. In Crystal Pond Woods, students continued to develop their divergent thinking by SCAMPERING a common object.
