3rd Grade - This class learned that Harsh means unpleasant and difficult to accept or experience. The explorer, John F. Kennedy, had difficulty trying to be better than his older brother and different activities. Students took time to write about one of the explorers we discussed this year in a short essay. Together we completed the Plexer warm up activity. There was a post assessment regarding what students thought about when they heard the word "discoveries." In Crystal Pond Woods, students had to evaluate themselves as to how well they learned the different thinking activities. The final activity was to evaluate several board games for Jordan the Judge.
5th Grade - These students learned that Kibitzer is an onlooker who offers advice. While today's explorer, Johannes Gutenberg, invented the printing press, it did not make him a wealthy man. Students took time to write about one of the explorers we discussed this year in a short essay. Together we completed a Plexer puzzle for the warm up activity. We pondered the question, "Can something logical ever not make sense?" The final activity was a post assessment describing all the things student thought about when they heard the word "exploration."
