3rd Grade - Today's learning began with the vocabulary word Paleontology which is the science that deals with the fossils of animals and plants that lived very long ago especially in the time of dinosaurs. Oprah Winfrey did not wow her bosses at the TV station where she was a reporter. When they moved Oprah to a daytime talk show she demonstrated what she could do. In Crystal Pond Woods, students manipulated Pentominoes into certain shapes. Students were then presented with visual analogies.
5th Grade - This class learned that a Chaparral is a thicket of shrubs and small trees. The explorer, Horace Wells discovered laughing gas could be used as a pain killer accidentally discovering anesthesia. For the warm up activity, students were shown 8 close up pictures of creepy crawlers and had to identify the creatures. The affective lesson focused on using good manners and reflecting on things that students do well. The exploration lesson branched off from the tectonic plates lesson of last week. This week we explored the life around under sea steam vents.
2nd Grade - After reading about Mary Anning, the fossil hunter, students completed some math problems about dinosaurs.
