1st Grade - We spent our time together today finishing up the logic elimination puzzle we started last week and the Venn diagram from last week.

5th Grade - Today students learned that a Chaparral is a thicket of shrubs and small trees. The explorer, Horace Wells discovered laughing gas could be used as a pain killer accidentally discovering anesthesia. For the warm up activity, students were shown 8 close up pictures of creepy crawlers and had to identify the creatures. The affective lesson focused on using good manners and reflecting on things that students do well. The exploration lesson branched off from the tectonic plates lesson of last week. This week we explored the life around under sea steam vents.

4th Grade - The Tuesday afternoon class was moved to today so students could enjoy their Valentine parties tomorrow. The vocabulary word for this week was Candid which means someone who is honest and sincere. Milton Hershey, today's explorer was a failure in the candy business until he found a recipe for making caramels. That led to the launch of Hershey chocolates. These students had to identify the eight close up creatures that crawl under or along the ground for the warm up activity. Their affective lesson focused on setting goals. The final lesson was understanding that explorations of new frontiers may impact advancements in other fields of study. Alfred Wegener wanted to be a climatologist and meteorologist. He noticed how all the continents appeared to look like pieces of a puzzle thus developing the theory of continental drift which students learned about working with pudding and graham crackers.

2nd Grade - In Crystal Pond Woods, students had the opportunity to use their visual thinking as they tried to make a train of dominoes that had figures instead of dots on them.
