1st Grade - These students learned that our 19th President, Rutherford B. Hayes did not win the election by the popular vote but by the Electoral College. They worked together to solve the Stories with Holes problem for the warm up activity. In Crystal Pond Woods they continued their detective thinking as they played a game using attribute blocks.

5th Grade - These students learned the word Machinate means to plot or scheme. The explorer, Robert Goddard could not convince the United States military to use his rockets during World War II. Mr. Goddard is known as the "Father of Modern Rocketry." Students were challenged by the Stories with Holes warm up activity problem and were able to solve the mystery. The focus of today's affective lesson was on writing your own code of conduct to follow. The rest of the morning was spent completing the Exploravision project.

4th Grade - The students in this class learned that  someone who is Unflappable has a lot of self-control and is not easily upset or frightened. Today's explorer, Martha Graham was a famous dancer whom President Ford call a "national treasure." Students solved the Stories with Holes problem for the warm up activity. The affective lesson focused on the generalization that being gifted means different things to different people. . The rest of class time was spent finishing up the directions for our robots, finishing up the planet brochures, and repairing our mystery creatures.

2nd Grade - During their weekly trip to Crystal Pond Woods, visual thinking was combined with storytelling to create nursery rhymes. Students had to solve the puzzles by identifying the name of the nursery rhyme represented by the shapes.
