Milton Hershey, today's explorer was a failure in the candy business until he found a recipe for making caramels. That led to the launch of Hershey chocolates. These students had to identify the eight close up creatures that crawl under or along the ground for the warm up activity. Their affective lesson focused on setting goals. The final lesson was understanding that explorations of new frontiers may impact advancements in other fields of study. Alfred Wegener wanted to be a climatologist and meteorologist. He noticed how all the continents appeared to look like pieces of a puzzle thus developing the theory of continental drift which students learned about working with pudding and graham crackers.
The afternoon classes remained in their regular classrooms to enjoy Valentine's parties.
