3rd Grade - Today's vocabulary word was Imprison which means to put someone in prison. Their explorers were the Wright brothers. Neither bothers went to high school but both were fascinated with a flying toy their father brought home which led them to build the first airplane. Students worked together to complete a logic elimination problem for the warm up activity. The gifted lesson focused on the idea of how things become valuable. In Crystal Pond Woods, students began practicing their evaluative thinking skills using a problem-solving matrix.
5th Grade - The vocabulary word for today was Kibitzer which means an onlooker who offers advice. Johannes Gutenberg, today's explorer and inventor of the printing press, did not make any money with his invention. In fact, he lost possession of his press when he could not pay back the loan he received to make it. Students had to figure out the 9 close up items of the What in the World puzzle for the warm up activity. Today's affective lesson focused on the question, "Can something logical ever not make sense?" The third through fifth grade classes will be participated in the state wide kite festival today. Enrichment students had the opportunity to design and build a kite.
2nd Grade - This class focused on the idea that not all discoveries are equal in importance and impact. After looking at the evidence archaeologists have found at Pompeii, students used inference to tell what they thought life was like during that time period.
