5th Grade - Rebarbative which means ugly, repellent was today's vocabulary word. Today's explorer was Dr. John Gorrie who invented the refrigerator to be used for yellow fever patients. Students worked together to try to solve a Quotation Quizzler for the warm up activity. The affective lesson focused on the question, "I wonder..." what it means to define something? Our Exploration study had students researching famous explorers and selecting what artifacts they would like to complete to demonstrate their learning.
2nd Grade - These students learned that Confinement means something (as borders or walls) that encloses. Their explorer was Theodore Roosevelt who did not lead a charge up San Juan Hill. He did lead a charge up Kettle Hill. Students started working together on a Quotation Quizzler for the warm up activity.
