5th Grade - The vocabulary word for today was Kibitzer which means an onlooker who offers advice. Johannes Gutenberg, today's explorer and inventor of the printing press, did not make any money with his invention. In fact, he lost possession of his press when he could not pay back the loan he received to make it. Students had to figure out the 9 close up items of the What in the World puzzle for the warm up activity. Today's affective lesson focused on the question, "Can something logical ever not make sense?" The third through fifth grade classes will be participating in the state wide kite festival later this week. Enrichment students had the opportunity today to design and build a kite that they can also fly.

2nd Grade - We welcomed several new students to class today. The vocabulary word was Peasant which means a poor farmer or farm worker who has low social status. Today's explorer was Nancy Hart who stole a horse from a northern colonel to escape from jail for being a southern spy. Students worked together to solve the 9 close up items of the What in the World puzzle for the warm up activity.
