2nd Grade - Brainstorming and Divergent Thinking continued to be our focus in Crystal Pond Woods. Students brainstormed words about a beautiful day in a meadow. Each student followed that up by creating their own story about an adventure in a meadow.
3rd Grade - This group learned that the Compatible means able to exist together with something else. The thinker was Oprah Winfrey did not WOW her bosses as a TV reporter. So, they made her a morning talk show host and "the rest is history." Students drew a Surprise in the Middle drawing for the warm up activity. We started Visual Thinking in Crystal Pond Woods. Students had an opportunity to solve visual problems as they attempt to color maps using only four different colors. For the final activity, students completed their Polynesian Island brochures.
4th Grade - Today's vocabulary word was Unflappable which means someone who has a lot of self-control and is not easily upset or frightened. The thinker was Martha Graham who was a revolutionary in dance. Students drew a Surprise in the Middle drawing for the warm up activity. We received pictures and evaluations from the school that we traded robots. Time was taken to compare the photos and discuss the directions and how they could be improved. Our next unit of study is the Electric System. Students learned about amps, watts, and kilowatts today.
