5th Grade - Today's learning began with Occlude which means obstruct/block. The successful person was Percy L. Spencer who accidentally invented the microwave oven. For the warm up activity, students were to draw around their initials until they "disappeared." Clear communication was the focus of the leadership lesson. During the Explorations segment, students started programming their robots in order to complete a mission in orbit.
2nd Grade - This class learned that Evidence is something which shows that something else exists or is true. For the successful person, students learned that Zachary Taylor was a very religious man who would not take the oath of office on a Sunday. Since the Vice-President cannot be sworn into office until after the President, David Atchison (the Senate President Pro Tem) was the acting President for 24 hours. Students drew around their initials to make them "disappear" for the warm up activity.
