1st Grade - Today we learned that the deaths of President James Garfield and President William McKinley were hastened by their doctors. The knowledge of germs was new and most doctors at the time did not believe that they existed so did not practice washing. Students folowed a conductor to make an abstract drawing for the warm up activity. Our weekly trip to Crystal Pond Woods had students continuing to practice detective thinking through the use of a Venn diagram.
3rd Grade - This class learned that Imprison means to put someone in prison. Their successful person was the Wright brothers who never went to high school but were the first to fly an airplane. Students followed a conductor to make an abstract drawing for the warm up activity. Our weekly trip to Crystal Pond Woods had students practicing their evaluative thinking skills by evaluating potato chips. For the Discoveries lesson, students participated in an "archaeology" dig and then wrote a story about the people and objects they discovered.
Welcome to Washington Irving's Enrichment blog. This blog was designed to keep parents updated as to the activities of students participating in the program.
