4th Grade - These classes learned that Plausible means something that is reasonably true but may not be. Their successful person was Langston Hughes who joined other authors to lead an African American movement called the Harlem Renaissance. Students drew designs around their initials to "hide" them for the warm up activity. The affective lesson focused on creativity through writing and building a creature from given materials. For the Explorations lesson, students built more skyscrapers. This time the skyscrapers had to stand up during an "earthquake."
