2nd Grade - Our trip to Crystal Pond Woods had students continue developing their Visual Thinking skills. Today, they were looking at shapes in order to determine nursery rhymes.
4th Grade - This week's vocabulary word was Wean which means to withdraw from any type of habit. Today they had two explorers: Helen Keller and Anne Sullivan. With the help of Anne Sullivan, Helen Keller was able to overcome her disabilities and focus on what she could do. Students completed Plexer puzzles for the warm-up activity. The affective lesson concentrated on people's differences and how we should treat those with different disabilities. Our Exploration lesson continued to explore Hunger in America. Students designed healthy menus. The Discoveries lesson had students experimenting with electricity.
5th Grade - Today's vocabulary word was Underdog which means a loser or predicted loser in a struggle or contest. Their explorer was John Walker who discovered the first friction match. These students also completed the Plexer puzzles for their warm-up activity. The affective lesson focused on treating others the way we want to be treated. For the Structures lesson, students presented their findings on the Industrial Revolution. The Exploration lesson added cones and domes to the space stations.
