Welcome back after a great break. Here are the things we did in Enrichment today:
1st Grade - We learned that Ulysses S. Grant, our eighteenth president didn't want to be a soldier but his father got him into West Point. The Stories with Holes problem was solved after some detective work. Speaking of detectives, Dudley the Detective started teaching students to look for clues in order to solve a problem. We also learned that we want to think about the problem for a while and not to jump to conclusions. A pretest was taken to discover what we already know about patterns.
2nd Grade - This afternoon, students learned that Character means on of the attributes or features that make up and distinguish an individual. Our fourth president, James Madison was so small he didn't enlist in the Continental Army. These students completed some Plexer puzzles for their warm up activity. We started studying the five characteristics of successful people for the affective lessons. In Crystal Pond Woods, students began working on divergent thinking and brainstorming.
Welcome to Washington Irving's Enrichment blog. This blog was designed to keep parents updated as to the activities of students participating in the program.
