The explorer was George Gershwin who hated music as a child but became a world famous composer. Students had difficulty solving the Stories with Holes problem for the warm up activity. King Tut's gifts were the focus of the affective lesson. After reading a story about the gifts Tutankhamen gave his people when he became king, students wrote what they would give people if they were king. Students were challenged in Crystal Pond Woods to come up with a question that matched a given answer. During the Discovery segment, students explored crayons.
5th Grade - These students added Sedulous, which means industrious, to their vocabulary today. The explorer was Samuel Colt who invented the revolver. They solved the Stories with Holes puzzle for the warm up activity. Their affective lesson focused on making plans to combat peer pressure in the future by setting goals. The afternoon was spent creating Prezi presentations about E.coli. Students also researched the history of their topic for the Exploravision project.
