3rd Grade - Sojourn, a short stay, brief residence, was today's vocabulary word. The investigator was Thomas Edison, who was thought to have been dull by his teachers. Today's warm-up activity was a creative drawing project from Loosen Up. In Crystal Pond Woods, students developed their own criteria and solved the problem of where to spend a vacation this year. They completed a quick research project of an animal's habitat, dining preference and activity time. The final activity was figuring out how far they could jump if they were a grasshopper.
5th Grade - Passe-avants, cat-walks on a keelboat (a cat-walk is a narrow platform or pathway), was today's vocabulary word. John Walker, the accidental inventor of the match, was today's investigator. Today's warm-up activity was a creative drawing from Loosen Up. The affective lesson focused on what is important. Students finished the Mandan Huts by putting paper mache on them. The Structure lesson focused on natural structures with an opportunity to build bridges.
