3rd Grade - Today went very quickly due to changes from the program. The vocabulary word was Oscitant which means inattentive. Albert Einstein, who was one of the world's greatest thinkers, failed his college entrance exams. A logic elimination puzzle was going to be today's warm-up puzzle. Due to the shortness of the class today, students will take it home to complete. In Crystal Pond Woods, students completed the problem entitled, "What shall we do in class." They shared the niches of animals they researched last week. The final activity was to simulate what a bug's complex eye would be like if people had one.
5th Grade - Their vocabulary word was Paunch which is another word for belly, especially a pot belly. The investigator was Elijah McCoy, the son of run away slaves who invented the "Real McCoy." Today's warm-up activity was a logic elimination puzzle. For affective thinking, students discussed ways they might gain some understanding of someone else's problems. Our structure lesson focused on the layers of the earth. Students are looking forward to completing an experiment with that lesson. They then had the opportunity to complete some more projects for the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
Welcome to Washington Irving's Enrichment blog. This blog was designed to keep parents updated as to the activities of students participating in the program.
