2nd Grade - Our new word for today was Fleet which means a group of cars, boats, or other type of vessels. Harriet Tubman, who was instrumental in freeing 300 slaves before the Civil War, was today's ponderer. Students answered the Stories with Holes problem immediately after reading the problem. Congratulations 2nd graders! After reading Kids' Random Acts of Kindness, students developed a plan to demonstrate kindness around school. The rest of the morning was spent in Crystal Pond Woods SCAMPERING old items into new inventions.
3rd Grade - Zigzag which means a series of turns in different directions that nevertheless proceed in a general direction, was added to our vocabulary today. James Earl Jones was the ponderer of the day. These students also answered the Stories with Holes problem immediately after reading the situation. In Crystal Pond Woods, students had an opportunity to use humor, fluency, flexibility, originality and elaboration as they brainstormed questions to a given answer. The rest of the afternoon was spent researching and developing a brochure about a Pacific Island.
