3rd Grade - This class learned that Personality means the set of emotional qualities, ways of behaving, etc. that makes a person different from other people. Walt Disney, today's explorer was turned down by the Chicago Tribune as a cartoonist. Students solved the Stories With Holes problem for the warm up activity. The affective lesson reviewed the five characteristics of successful people. Students evaluated where they were and set goals for each area. In Crystal Pond Woods, students traded logic problems they had written last week with other students for a chance to solve more problems.
5th Grade - The vocabulary word was Tantamount which means equivalent to, virtually the same. Ruth Wakefield, who invented the chocolate chip cookie accidentally was today's explorer. Students had to solve a Stories With Holes problem for the warm up activity. For the affective lesson, students were to design a t-shirt that reflected something about themselves. Students were introduced to the Exploravision contest which fits in well with our #InvestigateCreateElevate project. Today students continued learning about Cultural Borrowing in our explorations lesson. They had the opportunity to play Mancala which is an African game.
2nd Grade - We continued lessons that centered around Abel's Island. Today students had to build a shelter from the materials provided.
