Mrs. Hart filled in while Dr. Rains was gone today. Here is a look at what the students accomplished.
4th Grade - Learning began with the vocabulary word of the week Sullen which means someone who is sulky or quietly in a bad mood. Mary Cassatt, known as America's Great Impressionist, was today's explorer. Students had to solve a Stories With Holes problem for the warm up activity. Spinning plates was the focus of the weekly affective lesson. This lesson provided students the opportunity to analyze their activities and determine how they are doing with everything in which they are involved. Students were introduced to the Exploravision contest which fits in well with our #InvestigateCreateElevate project. Today students continued learning about Cultural Borrowing in our explorations lesson. They had the opportunity to play Mancala which is an African game.
2nd Grade - Today's affective lesson focused on the generalization that successful people exhibit the traits of creativity, goal-setting, intelligence, courage, and kindness. After listening to the story Hooray for Diffendoofer Day by Dr. Seuss, students discussed how Dr. Seuss demonstrated creativity. In Crystal Pond Woods, students began learning about divergent thinking. They were given some simple abstract shapes and had to describe what they thought the shape represented.
Welcome to Washington Irving's Enrichment blog. This blog was designed to keep parents updated as to the activities of students participating in the program.
