4th Grade - The fourth grade vocabulary word was Ponderous which mans heavy and massive. Their ponderer was Frederick Douglass who learned to read as a slave. By learning to read he was able to assist many more slaves obtain freedom. Students completed a Surprise in the Middle drawing for the warm up activity. The affective lesson was a self evaluation of the past several weeks' discussions. Students then completed their drawings of the Munracks and created brochures for the planet Velzar.
5th Grade - The vocabulary word for today was Modicum which means a moderate amount. Today's ponderer was Conrad Hubert who invented the flashlight and started the Every Ready Battery Company. Students completed a Surprise in the Middle drawing for the warm up activity. Determining right or wrong was the focus of today's affective lesson. The rest of afternoon was spent finishing the first essays for the ExploraVision contest.
