1st Grade - This class learned that Elizabeth Cochrane (aka. Nellie Bly) was an newspaper reporter that exposed the poor conditions of mental health hospitals. Students worked together to solve the Stories with Holes mystery for the warm up activity. In Crystal Pond Woods, students were introduced to compare and contrast.
2nd Grade - These students learned that an artifact is a simple object (such as a tool or weapon) that was made by people in the past.Elizabeth Van Lew (aka. Crazy Bet) was a northern spy during the civil war. This group also solved the Stories with Holes mystery for the warm up activity. The affective lesson focused on how to deal with anger. The final activity was to match Max the Magician's tricky, visual dominoes in Crystal Pond Woods.
