3rd Grade - Today's learning began with the definition of Imprison which means to put (someone) in prison. The explorers, Orville and Wilbur Wright, didn't finish high school. Students worked together to solve the Plexer puzzles that were the warm up activity. In the Gifts study, we discussed how much a gift cost and completed some math problems with money. Students had the opportunity to apply their creative problem-solving learning to a real life situation in Crystal Pond Woods. For the Discoveries lesson, student learned about.
5th Grade - Students learned that Pernicious means dangerous, deadly. Their explorer, Samuel Morse, not only invented the Morse Code, but also won a gold medal for artwork. Students quickly solved a couple of Stories with Holes mysteries for the warm up activity. The affective lesson focused on the question, "Is it always easy to tell what causes things to happen?" The afternoon was spent leaning about hunger in America as students gained an understanding that exploring societal issues such as hunger may promote solutions to that problem.
