3rd Grade - Today we learned that the Polynesian Islands are a group of islands in the Pacific lying East of Melanesia and Micronesia and extending from the Hawaiian Islands south to New Zealand. The investigator, Roald Dahl had difficulty as a student trying to get his thoughts on paper but later wrote several well known children and adult books. Today's warm up activity had students asking 20 "yes" or "no" questions to determine the identity of the mystery object. Students learned the meaning of their learning style. The affective lesson was an introductory lesson on the Five Characteristics of Successful People. That was followed by a trip to Crystal Pond Woods where we began developing convergent thinking skills with a variety of puzzles.

5th Grade - Today's vocabulary word was Prognosticate which means to predict. The Band-Aid was invented by Earle Dickson because he had a clumsy wife. Solving visual images of common words or phrases was the warm up activity for today. Honesty was the focus of the affective lesson. Students then began collecting information that will be put into a timeline as if they were traveling the Oregon Trail. They will also be building a small Conestoga wagon in a few weeks and explored why people used wagons instead of dragging their possessions across the continent.
