2nd Grade - Our learning today focused on the idea that successful people demonstrate a caring attitude. After reading a few acts of kindness written by kids, students drew a poster about themselves demonstrating an act of kindness.
1st Grade - Today was the first class for first grade Enrichment students. We began by writing a Code of Conduct (rules) for our time together. Our investigator was Ulysses S. Grant who never wanted to be a soldier. Students were introduced to the game 20 Questions and were able to figure out the interesting item of the day. The students were then introduced to Dudley the Detective who immediately set them to work solving mysteries that had only one correct answer. The final activity was to have students demonstrate their knowledge of patterns.
4th Grade - The vocabulary word for this week was indignation which means anger, especially over something that's unfair. The investigator for this class was Albert Einstein who was really a man of peace in spite of the fact that he developed the atomic bomb. It took a while but these students finally figured out the Mystery Object/20 questions for the warm up activity. The rest of the afternoon was spent researching planets and creating brochures for their planets.
Welcome to Washington Irving's Enrichment blog. This blog was designed to keep parents updated as to the activities of students participating in the program.
