It was nice to get to see these students after the holidays and snow days :)
Here's what we learned today:
3rd Grade - These students learned that Demand means the ability and need or desire to buy goods and services. James Earl Jones, today's explorer was a stutterer as a child. Students worked together to solve some Plexer puzzles for the warm up activity. The affective lesson focused on historical gifts. Students were then given some challenging math problems that centered around the original Star Spangled Banner. The final activity had students discovering crayons.
5th Grade - This class had several vocabulary words today in order to catch up with the other fifth grade groups. First, Soporific means sleep inducing. Next was Modicum which means a moderate amount. Finally, Gregarious means sociable. The class worked together to solve some Plexer puzzles for the warm up activity. Benjamin Franklin, today's explorer only had two years of formal schooling but was a life long learner. The affective lesson focused on several issues and how students would react in given situations. The rest of the class time was spent writing essays for the Exploravision contest.
2nd Grade - Our class today had students simulating a gold dig by digging into chocolate chip cookies with toothpicks and wooden ice cream spoons.
