1st Grade - We learned that a Miss X (her name is unknown) saved the Danville Female Academy from Bloody Bill's guerrillas during the Civil War. Students drew a picture by following the directions for the warm up activity. In Crystal Pond Woods, we continued to develop our detective thinking skills.
5th Grade - Today our learning activities began with a new vocabulary word - Nefarious which means evil, infamous. The explorer was Robert Fulton, a doodler who invented the steamboat. Students followed directions to draw a Surprise in the Middle drawing for the warm up activity. The affective lesson focused on steps necessary to make a decision. We are starting to wrap up the Exploravision project. The final essays were begun today. Next week we will put the final touches on the project and turn entries over to Toshiba.
4th Grade - Today students learned that Potent means something that is powerful and effective. The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. led peaceful protests in order to see equal rights for all people. Students completed a Surprise in the Middle drawing for the warm up activity. Humor and symbolic perspectives were the focus of the affective lesson. The rest of the class time was spent repairing robots, typing directions for the other school, and completing planet brochures.
2nd Grade - Other activities caused class to be canceled this afternoon. We will resume our regular schedule on Friday.
