2nd Grade - We took our weekly trip to Crystal Pond Woods where we are still working on our Convergent Thinking skills. Today students had to analyze shapes and sort them into a Venn Diagram.
3rd Grade - Today they learned that a Reef is a ridge of rocks or sand, often of coral debris, at or near the surface of the water. The weekly Thinker was Cher who met with failure after her first record. Through determination and hard work, Cher became a famous musician. The focus of the affective lesson was on caring. In Crystal Pond Woods, students reviewed and played a Convergent Thinking game similar to Master Mind called Aces, Jumbles, and Zilch. For the Relationships lesson, students were introduced to two books; Call It Courage and Abel's Island. These two books will be the focus for our Relationships lessons over the next several weeks.
4th Grade - Today's vocabulary word was Loquacious which means someone who talks too much. The thinker was Rachel Carson an environmentalist who was able to remove DDT from being used on farms. Students worked together to solve a logic elimination grid puzzle for the warm up activity. The affective lesson focused on tolerance and how to deal with pet peeves. The rest of our time together was spent working on language system assignments from Google Classroom.
Welcome to Washington Irving's Enrichment blog. This blog was designed to keep parents updated as to the activities of students participating in the program.
