2nd Grade - Today we learned that Forecast means a prediction, especially as to the weather. President James Madison was one of our smallest Presidents. The warm up activity for this week was a 20 Question Mystery Object that we will try to discover tomorrow.
5th Grade - Students today learned that Diaphanous means translucent/transparent. Their thinker was Thomas Adams, an inventor and friend of Santa Anna. When Mr. Adams was trying to invent a cheaper rubber, Santa Anna suggested he try chicle from Mexico. When the chicle didn't make a good rubber, Mr. Adams popped it into his mouth and started making chewing gum.The warm up activity was a drawing where one students held the pencil while a partner moved the paper to create the desired object. Our affective lesson on leadership had students considering people who have touched their lives and how students can influence others. The final activity was working on the Bridge Across America project.
This afternoon, students from Ms. Ashton and Ms. Wood's classes had the opportunity to make up time missed last week because of their AR celebrations.
Welcome to Washington Irving's Enrichment blog. This blog was designed to keep parents updated as to the activities of students participating in the program.
