2nd Grade - For this week, the vocabulary word was Unflappable which means a lot of self-control and not easily upset or frightened. The explorer was Belle Boyd. Because Miss Boyd was a pretty young lady, northern soldiers didn't think she capable of being a spy. Students started working on a logic elimination puzzle for the warm-up activity.
5th Grade - Their vocabulary word for this week was Catamaran. A catamaran is a boat with two parallel hulls; a raft of logs tied together. They had two explorers: Richard (Dick) Knerr and Arthur (Spuds) Melvin, the inventors of the Hula Hoop. Students completed a logic elimination puzzle for their warm-up activity. The affective lesson focused on written rules as well as understood rules. Class was shortened due to a meeting Mrs. Rains had to attend.
