2nd Grade - Students listened to the story, "Stress Can Really Get on Your Nerves". Next week we will practice stress relieving techniques.
4th Grade - Despite which means in spite of, notwithstanding, was today's vocabulary word. This week's explorer was Matthew Henson who assisted Robert Peary in being the first person to reach the North Pole. These students completed the logic elimination puzzle for a warm-up activity. Students learned that successful people demonstrate the trait of creativity by building something from given materials and writing a story about it. They worked to complete their History of the Alphabet time lines.
5th Grade - Their vocabulary word for this week was Catamaran. A catamaran is a boat with two parallel hulls; a raft of logs tied together. They had two explorers: Richard (Dick) Knerr and Arthur (Spuds) Melvin, the inventors of the Hula Hoop. Students completed a logic elimination puzzle for their warm-up activity. The affective lesson focused on written rules as well as understood rules. Class was shortened due to a meeting Mrs. Rains had to attend.
