2nd Grade - The vocabulary word for this week was Idyllic which means something that's pleasant and peaceful.William Henry Harrison, our 9th president, was today's explorer. Students completed a Surprise in the Middle drawing for their warm-up activity.
4th Grade - Their vocabulary word for this week was Conceal which means to keep from being seen; put out of sight; hidden. Milton Hershey, a struggling entrepreneur, finally succeeded when he started making caramels followed by milk chocolate bars. These students completed the Surprise in the Middle drawing for their warm-up activity. The affective lesson focused on the understanding that successful people demonstrate creativity. After listening to the book Hooray for Diffendoofer Day by Dr. Suess, students wrote their own lesson plans for a class of their choice. We concluded the Language System study by writing how we think the alphabet came to be based on the evidence presented.
