1st Grade - Today's ponderer was Rutherford B. Hayes who was elected President of the United States by one vote. Students drew pictures of themselves using only straight lines for the warm up activity. In Crystal Pond Woods, students learned about attributes of objects. The pattern lesson focused on the idea that patterns can be found in words; rhyming words.
5th Grade - Tantamount which means equivalent to, virtually the same was the vocabulary word of the day. Ruth Wakefield who accidentally invented the chocolate chip cookie was today's ponderer. These students also completed the Straight Face drawings for the warm up activity. The affective lesson focused on things kids learn the hard way. Some students were able to complete their Wonder of the World projects today, others will finish next week. Today, groups decided the problem they want to solve for the ExploraVision contest and brainstormed ways to fix the problem.
