2nd Grade - Fertile - able to reproduce children, seeds, or fruit; highly productive was today's vocabulary word. The fifth President of the United States, James Monroe, was today's ponderer. Mr. Monroe devoted so much time to his country that he didn't have any money when he got older and he had to live with his daughter. Students drew their faces using only straight lines for the warm up activity. Creativity was the focus of the affective lesson. Students began training their fluency skills by learning to brainstorm. Several craft items were given to the groups to create a creature. Then, students were to write a story about their new friend. Today's final activity provided students a different way to strengthen their logic skills and remember attributes of objects.

3rd Grade - Their vocabulary word was runt which means undersized; a small animal or person. Walt Disney, who's cartoons were rejected by the Chicago Tribune, was today's ponderer. These students also drew themselves using only straight lines. The third grade affective lesson focused on reviewing where students thought they were with the five traits of successful people. Students then had to set goals determining how they wanted to grow in each trait. In Crystal Pond Woods, students reviewed the logic elimination puzzles they had been working on the past few weeks. There was a quick discussion about the relationship between fear and courage along with peer pressure in the Relationship study. In the Wonder segment, students observed how the balloon had changed from last week to this week.
