1st Grade - Nelly Bly, who wanted to go around the world in fewer days than the character in Jules Verne's book Around the world in 80 days, was today's ponderer. She was able to travel around the world in 72 days. Students worked on a Quotation Quizzler for the warm-up activity. In Crystal Pond Woods, students learned how to create more colorful sentences which makes for more interesting stories.
5th Grade -Due to last week's holiday, today's class had two vocabulary words: Chaparral which means a thicket of shrubs and small trees and Oscitant which means inattentive. Horace Wells, the discoverer of anesthesia, was one today's ponderers. The other ponder was Guglielmo Marconi, the inventor of the telegraph. Students quickly completed a quotation puzzle for the warm-up activity. Their affective lesson focused on using good manners, appreciating their accomplishments what they would do in a "sticky" situation. The afternoon was spent researching an aspect of the industrial revolution.
