4th Grade - Today's vocabulary word was Infallible. A person who is infallible never makes a mistake. Elizabeth Blackwell, America's first woman doctor, was today's ponderer. Students solved a Stories with Holes problem for the warm up activity. Stress, procrastination, perfectionism, potential, isolation, leadership, risk-taking, and motivation will be the focus of our affective lessons for the next several weeks. Today's lesson was an assessment of how each student perceived these entities in their lives. The rest of the morning students discovered parallel and series circuits.
3rd Grade - The vocabulary word for this group was Craven which means cowardly. Their ponderer was Jim Carrey, who was not craven and has become a famous actor/comedian. These students also solved the Stories with Holes problem that was the warm up-activity. The affective lesson focused on courage, the opposite of craven. Students demonstrated courage by giving a one minute spontaneous speech. In Crystal Pond Woods, students played a game called Aces, Jumble and Zilch to continue developing their Convergent Thinking skills. This is a paper/pencil version of the game Master Mind
