2nd Grade - Goad, anything that pricks, prods, or urges, was today's vocabulary word. Sybil Luddington was today's ponderer. During the Revolutionary War, Ms. Luddington rode around the countryside warning colonist the British were coming, just like Paul Revere. The warm-up activity was a What in the World puzzle. This is a puzzle made up of close up photos of objects. Students have to determine the object by reading the clue and looking at the picture. Task commitment was the focus of today's affective lesson. In Crystal Pond Woods, student were given the opportunity to practice convergent thinking by identifying attributes found on cards.
3rd Grade - Their vocabulary word was Succor which means help; relief; assistance. Tom Cruise, who was a struggling reader, was today's ponderer. These students also completed the What in the World puzzles for the warm-up activity. Their affective lesson reviewed all five traits of successful people by watching a video about Mother Teresa. Students then discussed how she demonstrated all of the successful people traits. For the Wonder lesson, students reviewed what a scientist does and started an experiment. The Relationships lesson was a review of the book Call it Courage. Since that book is a chapter book, we read the book Scardy Cat Fish. We will discuss the power of fear next week.
